What’s the Story?

HBO is currently developing the DC Comics series Watchmen as a television series and John Cena might have a role in the show according to a report published by comicbook.com

In Case You Didn’t Know

Cena is known for the 15 years he spent wrestling for WWE, but has ventured out into various film and TV projects both inside and outside of WWE.

Cena has appeared in a multitude of TV shows and movies including the first instalment of The Marine, Legendary, Trainwreck, and Daddy’s Home 2.

 The Heart of the Matter

HBO announced back in September that the Watchmen comic would be coming to their channel as a television series, but Cena’s posting the Watchmen logo on his Instagram on Nov. 19 has led many to believe that he would be involved in the show.

Cena was rumoured to be at the top of the list of actors considered for the part of Billy Batson in the upcoming “Shazam” movie from DC Comics, but his name was dropped from consideration for the part eventually.

What’s Next?

Many fans are expecting Cena to return to WWE in 2018 as WWE prepares for WrestleMania 34, but whether the 16-time World Champion will stay with the company for the duration of WrestleMania season is currently unknown.

The Watchmen TV series is still in development with no expected release date, so there’s no way to be sure what Cena’s schedule will be if he has a role in the show.

Author’s Take

Cena’s stock in Hollywood seems to be on the rise since 2015 and it seems like the Cenation Leader may have even more in store for fans in the near future.
