It was reported earlier that ‘The Champ’ could be the special guest referee in the fight between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal and now Dave Meltzer claims this could lead to a bigger booking at WrestleMania with Mahal facing Cena.

In case you didn't know...

Survivor Series is one of the bigger pay-per-views from the WWE and it is often promoted as the only time when both SmackDown Live and RAW Superstars get to take on each other.

While we will have the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series matches, Mahal and Lesnar will also be facing each other after "The Maharaja" called out "The Beast" a couple of weeks ago.

The heart of the matter

Ringside News carried a report from Meltzer where he mentioned that Cena would face Mahal for the WWE Championship post the Survivor Series bout.

He further added that Cena would actually interfere in the fight between Lesnar and Mahal and help "The Beast" in picking up the win.

Cena would then go on to face Mahal in a later pay-per-view, which is expected to be WrestleMania.

What's next?

Mahal is set to face AJ Styles in this week’s SmackDown Live and the WWE title would be on the line. There could be a stipulation added to this bout but it seems likely that Mahal would be holding onto the title for just a little longer.

Author's take

Cena has been missing from the mix for the WWE title and it has been a little concerning for most fans as to how long Mahal would be holding onto the title.

With Cena getting involved in the match between Mahal and Lesnar, it would add some spice to the proposed fight and hopefully someone can take the title away from "The Maharaja".

Additionally, it will be fun to see Cena in the ring as the ref and trying to not attack Lesnar but having a right old go at Mahal.
