From the WWE Rumor Mill: Major details about Brock Lesnar's new deal unveiledĀ
What's the story?
We recently learned that Brock Lesnar has signed a new deal with WWE. We also learned that he will be competing with Roman Reigns at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia for the Universal Championship.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer recently revealed some insider information about Brock Lesnar's deal. We thank Reddit user aase458 for the heads up.
In case you didn't know...
It was universally (no pun intended) believed that Brock Lesnar would be defeated by Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34. Much to the shock and amazement of the WWE Universe, Lesnar won the match and is still the Universal Champion.
And then, in another surprise move, WWE announced that Lesnar had signed a brand new deal with the company and would be facing Roman Reigns at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The match will take place inside a steel cage.
The heart of the matter
Wrestling Observer reveals that the duration of Lesnar's new contract was not revealed so as to not give away when he would be dropping the Universal Championship. It is not going to be a one match deal, although Meltzer says that he wouldn't be surprised if it was and if Lesnar's deal ended before SummerSlam.
Meltzer also speculated that the deal would allow him to negotiate one UFC deal while under contract with WWE. However, the match would be able to take place only after Lesnar's WWE deal ran its course.
What's next?
What we know for sure is that Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will collide inside a steel cage in Saudi Arabia. Will a title change hands? Only time till tell all.
Author's take
I have a feeling this rumour is more speculation than fact that this point in time. Therefore, I'll just sit back and watch how the action unfolds.
It may freshen Lesnar's character to have a stint in UFC and return in due time, hotter than ever!
