From the WWE Rumor Mill: Next opponent for Brock Lesnar revealed?
What's the story?
Despite the controversial finish at the Greatest Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns may not be Brock Lesnar's next opponent. According to a rumour reported by PWInsider and Cageside Seats, it may be Seth Rollins!
This may be great news for the WWE Universe, who've been far more vocal for their support for Seth Rollins over Roman Reigns. At this point, it is not known when this big match will take place!
In case you didn't know...
Brock Lesnar defeated Goldberg last year at WrestleMania 33 to become the reigning and defending Universal Champion of the world. He has been undefeated since then, defeating opponent after opponent, with Roman Reigns being his latest victim.
Lesnar's reign has garnered much criticism from members of the WWE Universe because of his part-time schedule. Yet, fans have also simultaneously rejected Roman Reigns as the guy to dethrone The Beast Incarnate.
The heart of the matter
Seth Rollins has come up the ranks of late, to become the most beloved babyface in the RAW brand. He currently holds the Intercontinental Championship and puts on the best match on the card consistently on a near-weekly basis.
It makes far more sense for Rollins to be the man to go after the Universal Championship, in our opinion. After all, he has the support of the WWE Universe and there will actually be a great deal of interest if he were to become the champion.
What's next?
I'm sure there'll be an Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge this week. I'm sure there will be a great match that follows, irrespective of whoever really answers the challenge. As for Lesnar, I'm not sure when he is returning.
Author's take
I can totally buy into the idea of Seth Rollins as the next Universal Champion. It's a far better call than putting the strap on Reigns right now.
Rollins is an organic babyface and the only person on RAW who gets a reaction that rivals what Daniel Bryan gets on SmackDown Live!
