From the WWE Rumor Mill: Paige expected to make in-ring return soon
What's the story?
According to a report in PWInsider, it is certain that the former Divas champion, Paige, has been cleared to return to the WWE ring next month.
Paige spent much of last week at the WWE Performance Center training to get cleared for a return.
In case you didn't know...
Paige has not competed for WWE since the summer of 2016 when she was suspended for her first violation of the WWE Wellness policy. After her first violation and suspension of 30 days, she was again suspended, this time for a period of 60 days.
She underwent surgery last October and since then has been working her way to in-ring fitness.
The heart of the matter
Paige returned to the WWE Performance Center last week in a bid to get cleared for in-ring action and whatever she did seems to have worked. She has been off WWE TV for more than a year now and will be raring to go in the ring after her long hiatus.
Even though she had been drafted to Monday Night RAW last year during the brand split, WWE is set to get her back on TV with the Smackdown brand, perhaps in a bid to give her a fresh start.
What's next?
Paige's return will be a hot topic of discussion amongst wrestling fans and it seems likely that she will make her in-ring return after the Smackdown PPV, Hell in a Cell, which takes place on October 8, 2017.
Author's Take
With Asuka set to be added to the RAW roster, Smackdown Live's Women's Division will need a fresh face and will surely be boosted by Paige's addition.
Paige was a real crowd favourite before her hiatus. Despite the scandals that have surrounded her, the fact that she has worked her way back to the ring proves she still wants to succeed in the business and that is a positive sign for Paige's future.
