From the WWE Rumor Mill: Paige to get a new role in WWE
What’s the story?
As reported by Cageside Seats, Paige may get a new role in the WWE. Additionally, it’s being reported that it’s unlikely Paige leaves the WWE anytime soon.
In case you didn’t know…
Paige is widely regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today, however, the British performer who’s been competing in the sport since her early teens, suffers from scoliosis — an abnormal curvature of the spine — and has been dealing with it from a young age; with the condition being detected only after she started training at the WWE Performance Center.
While Paige would go on to achieve tremendous success in the WWE, while receiving world-class medical rehabilitation and therapy for her scoliosis, the former Divas Champion sustained a neck injury in 2016.
The heart of the matter
Paige made a successful return from her aforementioned neck injury in late-2017, as the leader of a new faction, Absolution, comprising Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville. Nevertheless, at a house show in December last year, Sasha Banks hit Paige with a stiff dropkick to the back that caused the latter’s neck to violently bob as she fell to the mat.
While the injury was initially believed to take Paige out for no more than a few weeks, it was recently revealed that the WWE has informed her that her career as an active competitor may be over. Nevertheless, it’s now being reported that the WWE plans to work Paige into a new role as she’ll not be able to wrestle anymore.
Furthermore, the vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that Paige is unlikely to leave the WWE despite her shocking career-ending injury.
What’s next?
Fans can expect Paige and the WWE to shed further light on this situation over the next few days.
Should Paige stay on in the WWE, it would be in a non-wrestling capacity.
Author’s take
Paige is one of the most charismatic individuals one could ever come across. And if you’ve met her in person, you know what I’m talking about.
One of the nicest professional wrestlers out there, Paige will be sorely missed as an in-ring competitor. Nevertheless, considering her unrivalled microphone skills, she could very well go on to become a highly successful manager or authority figure in the WWE. Perhaps even movie roles in WWE Studios productions await Paige.
Here’s wishing Paige the best of luck from this point moving forward.
