Goldberg was announced as the first member of the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class

What’s the story?

Bill Goldberg will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and while it may not come as a surprise, what does is the person inducting him - Paul Heyman!

The rumour has surfaced from PWInsider

In case you didn’t know...

Paul Heyman is popularly known in the wrestling industry for his association with Brock Lesnar. Heyman is known as ‘The Advocate’ for his work with Lesnar.

Goldberg had two separate stints with the WWE and on both occasions, the highlight was his feud with the Beast Incarnate!

During his first stint between 2003 and 2004, Goldberg and Lesnar confronted each other several times before they eventually faced each other at Wrestlemania XX in what was the last match for both superstars before they left the company. Goldberg won the match which was officiated by none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Twelve years later, Goldberg returned to WWE after accepting a challenge from Paul Heyman after the latter claimed that Goldberg was the one blemish on Lesnar’s career.

In the weeks that preceded the match between Lesnar and Goldberg, Heyman was speared by Goldberg and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. At Survivor Series, Goldberg defeated Lesnar in just a minute and twenty-six seconds!

They faced each other one last time at Wrestlemania 33 and Lesnar finally got his win over Goldberg while also claiming the Universal Championship.

The heart of the matter

On January 15, 2018, it was announced that Goldberg would be the headliner of the 2018 Hall of Fame but it is surprising that Paul Heyman would be the man to induct him given Goldberg’s history with Brock Lesnar.

Mike Johnson reported this news on PWInsider’s Elite Audio:

The word is that Paul Heyman will be inducting Goldberg into the Hall of Fame. I don’t know how that makes any sense but that’s the story making the rounds. I guess they are both Jewish? I don’t know, I don’t get it

What’s next?

We will have to wait for a comment from WWE or either of the two concerned parties to see the extent of the truth despite it being a difficult one to believe.

Author’s take

Although this is a difficult one to believe, the members of the wrestling industry share a mutual respect for each other and it’s often visible during Hall of Fame ceremony.

I for one would like to see Heyman induct Goldberg into the WWE Hall of Fame.
