From the WWE rumor mill: Plans for Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Survivor Series

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

What's the story?

With Survivor series just around the corner, Team RAW and Team SmackDown have been taking shots at each other for the past month. After SmackDown had invaded RAW a few weeks back, Raw retaliated this Tuesday by laying siege on SmackDown.

However, two men-- Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been absent from all this action. According to Cagesideseats, both these men might not be booked on the main card of Survivor Series but will most probably appear on the show.

In case you didn't know...

Kevin Owens has been embroiled in a bitter rivalry with the SmackDown Commissioner-- Shane McMahon for the past few months which was to culminate in a Hell in a Cell match. It was in this match that Zayn intervened and cost Shane the victory, thus forming an alliance with Kevin Owens.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn lost their qualifying matches to join Team Smackdown after losing to Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton respectively and hence failed to become part of Team SmackDown.

Survivor Series will take place on 19th November 2017 from the Toyota Center, Houston, Texas; the event will see both the brands go up against each other in a multitude of matches including Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles as well as two traditional Survivor Series matches.

The heart of the matter

Sami and Kevin, who faced The New Day this week on SmackDown, have time and again expressed their displeasure on not being part of team SD and have blamed Shane for being biased.

As per reports from Cagesideseats, both these superstars will be a part of Survivor Series and it is speculated that they will interfere in the traditional 5-on-5 men's Survivor Series match to cost SmackDown a victory.

What's next?

It seems likely that that the feud between Kevin Owens and his alliance with Shane McMahon will be continuing after Survivor Series, especially if these two cost team Smackdown the match.

This week SmackDown also teased trouble between Daniel Bryan and Shane, so it will be interesting to see how WWE will continue with this story going forward.

Author's take

It seemed odd to me that two of the top superstars of SmackDown were not featured on one of the biggest events of the year. The picture is starting to get clear now as it seems that both these superstars will have a huge role to play this coming Sunday.
