SK's Speculation: Debunking the rumours about a possible change to the main event of WrestleMania 34

Has Roman Reigns lost his ticket to Suplex City?

What's the story?

According to a report from Cageside Seats, Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar may no longer be on the cards for WrestleMania 34.

In case you didn't know...

Vince McMahon is hell-bent on making Roman Reigns the face of WWE and positioning the Shield powerhouse as John Cena's successor.

A major part of McMahon's plan involves Reigns winning Raw's top prize from Brock Lesnar, who has been booked as an unstoppable force.

The former Georgia Tech product was initially set to win the WWE Championship from Lesnar at WrestleMania 31, but those plans were scrapped because of the wholesale rejection of Reigns.

The heart of the matter

Rumours about a Reigns vs. Lesnar clash in New Orleans started to make the rounds after they were positioned as WWE's 2 biggest stars at WrestleMania 33.

The Big Dog essentially retired The Undertaker while Paul Heyman's favourite client overcame long-time adversary Bill Goldberg to claim the Universal Championship.

This report from Cageside Seats comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Vince McMahon's determination to make Roman Reigns WWE's next breakout star. Several of the characters on television have even hinted at a rematch of the WrestleMania 31 main event, which means that the McMahon will not renege on his plans.

Also, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that there are no change of plans at the moment

What's next?

WrestleMania 34 will take place on April 08, 2018, at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Lousiana. Barring an act of God, Roman Reigns will pin Brock Lesnar and hoist the Universal Championship to close out the show.

Author's take

The unending push of Roman Reigns is the latest in the line of Vince McMahon's creative errors. He simply doesn't possess the charisma or the magnetism to take WWE to new heights.

It's quite baffling that the same man who produced Hulk Hogan and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin would waste so many years chasing a fool's errand even as Monday Night Raw's ratings continue to plummet at an alarming rate. But ultimately, it is what it is.
