What's the story?

During the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Pro Wrestling expert Dave Meltzer discussed the upcoming plans for current WWE SmackDown Live Women's Champion Charlotte Flair.

In case you didn't know...

Flair won the SmackDown Live Women's Title on an episode of Smackdown Live back in November of 2016 after she defeated "The Queen of Black Hearts" Natalya.

However, since winning the SmackDown Women's Title, Charlotte hasn't had many cheerful moments as she defended her belt just the one time in a lumberjack match against Natalya, where she successfully retained the title after a lengthy contest.

The heart of the matter

On the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer, Meltzer discussed and revealed the forthcoming plans for Charlotte Flair, heading into Wrestlemania 34.

Meltzer claimed Flair's status heading into this year's Wrestlemania season will be to engage in a feud against The Riott Squad, as the WWE management looks to buy some time for the Smackdown Women's Champion until Wrestlemania 34 fully approaches.

Meltzer also insisted that over the course of the next few weeks, Charlotte will face Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan.

What's next?

As noted on this week's episode of SmackDown Live, Charlotte Flair successfully defeated Riott Squad member Liv Morgan in a one-on-one match. So as of right now, it is pretty much clear that Flair will start a program against the Ruby Riott led faction.

However, there have also been talks of Charlotte possibly defending her Smackdown Women's Title at Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans, against WWE's newest signing Ronda Rousey.

Author's Take

A program between The Riott Squad and Charlotte Flair will definitely be a lot interesting, but, in my opinion, I think WWE shouldn't let Flair lose her SmackDown Women's Title to Ronda Rousey at 'The Grandest Stage of Them All'.
