From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible spoiler on Daniel Bryan's replacement as SmackDown Live General Manager
What's the story?
Earlier this week, we saw SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan return to in-ring action, after having to retire two years ago owing to concussion related injuries. As the world celebrated, SmackDown Live knew that they would have to appoint a brand new General Manager, very soon indeed.
According to a rumour that has emerged on Cageside Seats, Hulk Hogan may be Daniel Bryan's next replacement. While this is just a rumour at this time, it ties in, in terms of timing with WWE extending an olive branch to Hogan very recently.
In case you didn't know...
We recently reported how Hulk Hogan had been confirmed for a WWE event for the first time since 2015, after the racism controversy that he was embroiled in.
It is pretty clear, as it stands, that Daniel Bryan's in-ring career will be his central focus after news of his return took the world by storm.
The heart of the matter
Daniel Bryan's presence, as General Manager, always got SmackDown Live to a great start, considering just how 'over' he was, with the WWE Universe. The only person who can replace him and get that kind of reaction, in our opinion, is The Hulkster.
It is easy to forget this phase of Hulk Hogan's life, but The Hulkster was a competent Authority figure in TNA. A thorough professional, he wouldn't be out of place in this role.
What's next?
One of the rumours doing the rounds is that Hulk Hogan will be brought back to induct Hillbilly Jim. We wonder if that is the course that WWE will follow, from the Hall of Fame Ceremony, all the way to playing an on-screen character. This was the same route that the wrestling promotion had followed with Kurt Angle.
Author's take
I've grown up a Hulkamaniac and would love to see him return to the company. After all, he's one of the architects who actually built WWE from scratch.
While The Hulkster's actions are inexcusable, we're certain that he is repentant.
