From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible spoiler on The Bar's WrestleMania opponents
What's the story?
Over the past few weeks, The Bar has laid waste to tag team after tag team on WWE Raw in their quest to find a worthy opponent for their Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.
Well, PW Insider has posted today that there is a plan in place for Sheamus and Cesaro to defend their titles at WrestleMania 34, but NOT against an active tag team on the main roster.
In case you didn't know...
Sheamus and Cesaro have lit the world alight after being thrown together by former RAW General Manager Mick Foley. Both men were incredible singles performers who were unhappy with being underutilized in WWE - but they've quickly become one of WWE's best tag teams.
The pair were brought together when Mick Foley pitted both against one another in a best of seven series which finished in a tie when the final match finished in a no contest, but both got a title shot when Foley teamed them up together as Tag Team Title contenders.
The rest is history as Sheamus and Cesaro are now four-time Raw Tag Team Champions, and claim to be running out of the competition.
The Revival was given the chance to seal a WrestleMania match against Sheamus and Cesaro in New Orleans for the Raw Tag Team Championships last night, but it didn't quite work out for one of the only teams The Bar hadn't yet decimated.
Sheamus and Cesaro continued their impressive streak - and eliminated any chance of The Revival challenging them at WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
Well, PW Insider is reporting that the word backstage at Raw is that The Bar's Championship defense on the Grandest Stage of Them All will see Sheamus and Cesaro face a completely new team.
Now, what does that mean? Many people thought we could see one of NXT's many impressive tag teams brought up for a WrestleMania debut, but it appears that it will actually be two Superstars who are "not currently a team" who will face The Bar.
What's next?
There is no word yet on who the tag team may be, but there are only so many singles stars on the main roster who aren't currently booked at WrestleMania - and it may not just be Raw Superstars, we could see SmackDown, NXT, or a combination paired for the bout.
Author's take
Well, I was pretty certain we'd get a multi-team tag match with The Revival, The Good Brothers and maybe Titus Worldwide in the match - or even possibly see a team drafted over from SmackDown or an NXT call-up, but WWE seem to be going a different route and having two singles stars team like Sheamus and Cesaro originally were.
My initial thought was that it was a ruse and Woken Matt Hardy may pair with Brother Nero for their "debut" in WWE under new names, or even see Hardy and Wyatt team up - but it seems like the Ultimate Deletion match would occupy both parties.
So, who will it be? Will we see two SmackDown Superstars jump ship? Goldust has been teasing a WrestleMania appearance, maybe he pairs up with a younger talent like, say, NXT's Velveteen Dream! I can't wait to see who steps up to The Bar!
