From the WWE Rumor Mill: Potential new feud for Dolph Ziggler?
What’s the story?
According to a report from the IWNerd, Dolph Ziggler's next potential feud could be against Smackdown's latest recruit, Bobby Roode. WWE has announced that they will be bringing back the Starrcade PPV that will take place in November, later this year.
The official card for the show currently advertises a match between Ziggler and Roode.
In case you didn’t know…
On Monday evening, the Greenboro Coliseum tweeted out a photo that revealed the matches that are scheduled to take place at the event. The PPV currently advertises two steel cage matches and will be a Smackdown Live brand-exclusive pay-per-view.
Moments later, the news was confirmed by WWE when they officially announced the return of the event on their website. However, it is still uncertain whether the PPV will be a special on the WWE network or not.
The heart of the matter
With the advertising of the event, one thing has been noted is a potential hint towards Dolph Ziggler’s next feud. In recent weeks “The Showoff” has been mocking various superstars by replicating their entrances in a humorous manner on Smackdown Live.
All of this started two weeks back when Dolph copied the entrances of John Cena, Randy Savage and also mocked the late great Ultimate Warrior’s entrance on last week’s episode of Smackdown.
It has been rumoured that Ziggler will soon use the entrance of Smackdown’s recent signee Bobby Roode. The former NXT champion’s entrance is currently one of the most famous entrances in the entire WWE and it would make sense for Ziggler to mock the Glorious entrance in order to get some heel heat on him, before the two eventually kick off their rivalry.
What’s next?
With the Starrcade card advertising a match between Ziggler and Roode, it seems to give us a huge hint about the future plans for both of these men.
Roode hasn’t been in a solid feud since signing with the blue brand, and Ziggler is also lost in the shuffle and has been doing nothing (Other than mock other superstars’ entrances, of course).
Author’s take
The next Smackdown pay-per-view is Hell in a Cell, which is still three weeks away so there is still plenty of time to build a feud between these two men. A cell match would definitely be great and would give Roode a fillip if he picks up his first PPV win inside the steel structure.
The best choice from here on would be to make sure that Roode comes out on top in this feud, and eventually moves forward towards the world title picture.
