From the WWE Rumor Mill: RAW reportedly coming to India this December
What's the story?
Mike Johnson from PWInsider is reporting on news from the WWE regarding a tour of India at the end of this year. The Monday Night Raw roster will travel to New Delhi, India on December 6th and 7th for shows at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
In case you didn't know...
This venue is also known as the Indira Gandhi Arena and was constructed in preparation for the Asian Games. The WWE held their first event in India in over 13 years at this arena in January 2016.
The heart of the matter
This will be the first time that the WWE travels to India since launching a local weekly series called WWE Sunday Dhamaal. The series started this past June and provides viewers in India an in-depth look at the past week's episodes of Raw and Smackdown in an interactive format.
The current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers are of Indian origin but on Smackdown Live, and at the time of writing, it is unknown if they will participate in this tour or not.
What's next?
The Raw roster is currently preparing for the next pay-per-view, No Mercy, which occurs on the WWE Network on September 24th.
The main matches for this show include Braun Strowman v. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship, as well as John Cena v. Roman Reigns.
Author's take
It is great that the WWE will be returning to India. The rise of Jinder Mahal as a WWE Champion and the debut of Kavita Devi (the first Indian woman wrestler to compete in the WWE) in the Mae Young Classic added another level of excitement for pro wrestling in India.
As much as I would like Shinsuke Nakamura to win the WWE Championship at Hell In A Cell next month, I think it would be tremendous for Mahal if he was still WWE Champion and was able to go on this tour with the Raw brand.
