From the WWE Rumor Mill: Reason why Emma was not on RAW revealed

Why was the Australian missing from this week's episode of RAW?
Why was the Australian missing from this week's episode of RAW?

What's the story?

One week removed from the No Mercy pay-per-view, Emma was not a part of the proceedings on RAW this week. Many fans were curious about the same, considering that she is part of the Fatal 5-Way RAW Women's Title match at No Mercy.

According to a report from PWinsider.com, this had to do with the fact that Emma had decided to stay back in Australia following WWE's Australian tour. She decided to take a break before the big match could commence.

In case you didn't know...

Emma's current storyline revolves around hashtags on Twitter, based on the overwhelming fan support she has, despite the fact that she is not getting the push that she seemingly deserves from WWE.

She competes for the RAW Women's Championship at No Mercy, in a Fatal 5-Way match against Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Nia Jax. The RAW Women's Champion, Alexa Bliss does not have to be pinned to lose her prized title.

The heart of the matter

Between 14-16 September, WWE was part of a three-city tour of Australia in cities like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Emma hails from the city of Melbourne, and this afforded her the chance to stay back in the country and visit friends and family.

The life of a WWE superstar on the road is difficult, and this was a welcome opportunity for her to connect with those she loves. Because of the same reason, she was not back in time for RAW, this week.

What's next?

The calm is over and now, it's time for the storm. Emma will be part of perhaps the biggest match of her career at No Mercy, come this weekend on pay-per-view.

Author's take

To be honest, Emma's absence did not make a big difference to the proceedings, and if the break helped her refocus, more power to her. The performers risk life and limb on a weekly basis, and they deserve all the downtime they can get, really.
