From the WWE Rumor Mill: Reason why The Rock may not be at WrestleMania

Too
Too finally team?

What’s the story?

The current plan for Ronda Rousey's WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania, is for her and a to be named male partner to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed tag team match.

The belief is that WWE would like to bring The Rock back to be her partner, stemming from the segment between the four of them back at WrestleMania 31 in 2015. However, The Rock may have other plans.

In case you didn’t know…

The Rock has been hesitant to wrestle again for WWE since WrestleMania 29, with the exception of his six-second win over Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32.

The Rock was injured during his match with John Cena in 2013, which caused him to miss doing media for the movie Pain & Gain, as well as pushing forward the production of Hercules by several weeks. Even just a one day delay of production on a big-budget film can cost upwards of $250,000.

The heart of the matter

The Rock's next movie, Disney's Jungle Cruise, will begin filming in May.

Although this leaves plenty of time for The Rock to commit to a wrestling match at WrestleMania, it may be difficult for insurance reasons, in case The Rock were to get injured again.

What's next?

WrestleMania 34 will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, on 8th April, 2018.

Author’s take

The Rock has not appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania 32 in Dallas back in 2016, so I'm sure The Rock may appear at WrestleMania in some capacity, although by the sound of things it may not be to actually compete.

Personally I would love to see The Rock team up with Ronda to face Triple H and Stephanie, but for the moment it does not seem very likely, so instead I think the best possible replacement for him would be RAW General Manager Kurt Angle, who not only proved that he can still go, but was planned to be facing Triple H in New Orleans at one point.
