From the WWE Rumor Mill: Rumoured matches for WWE TLC 2017
What's the story?
With just 12 days to go until WWE TLC 2017, the card is looking extremely bare. Just three matches have been announced for the show on October 22, and the main event includes seven of the top stars on the RAW brand.
On today's episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez speculated on the matches that could fill the rest of the card.
In case you didn't know...
The WWE pay-per-view juggernaut continues to roll on, and the next major show is just 12 days away. WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs takes place on October 22, and with less than two weeks to go only three matches make up the card.
The main event will see the reformed Shield take on WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro & Braun Strowman in a handicap match. Elsewhere, Asuka will make her main roster debut against Emma, and Alexa Bliss will defend the RAW Women's Championship against Mickie James.
The heart of the matter
On the post-RAW episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer and Alvarez mentioned a few matches that may well be added to the TLC pay-per-view. Bray Wyatt and Finn Bálor are expected to end their feud at the show, with the match almost certain to involve a lot of pageantry now that 'Sister Abigail' is involved.
Elsewhere, Enzo Amore is likely to get his WWE Cruiserweight Championship rematch against new title-holder Kalisto at the show. Enzo lost his title to the King of Flight in the main event of last night's RAW, in a title switch that came somewhat out of nowhere.
Finally, Matt Hardy and Jason Jordan may well continue their ramshackle-tag team in a match against The Club. Jordan picked up a win over Karl Anderson last night, whilst Matt Hardy was decimated by the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.
What's next?
WWE has just one more episode of RAW before the big show, meaning these (and any other) matches will have to come together pretty quickly if they are to take place. This will still leave the pay-per-view as a six-match show, so the assumption must be that the main event is going to quite long.
Author's take
The obsession with reforming The Shield means that the rest of RAW has been somewhat ignored. WWE TLC could well end up being a two-trick pony, with the main event and Asuka's debut being the only happenings of note. But as long as Wyatt and Bálor don't compete in drag, I suspect everything will be A-okay.
