From the WWE Rumor mill: Injured WWE Superstar to return and face Shane McMahon at SummerSlam?
What’s the story?
According to reports from Cageside Seats, Rusev may face off against SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon at Summerslam.
In case you didn’t know...
The Bulgarian Brute has been making various appearances on SmackDown Live via the TitanTron (since he is still out with a shoulder injury) and has been demanding a title shot at Money in the Bank.
The heart of the matter
Reports from Cageside Seats suggest that Rusev may have a match against Shane McMahon at Summerslam.
Ever since the Superstar shakeup, Rusev has made it clear that he is not happy with SmackDown Live or the brand’s general manager Daniel Bryan. However, he seems to be incredibly annoyed with Shane McMahon. The ‘ Bulgarian Brute’ has repeatedly insisted that Shane grants him a title shot at Money in the Bank. However, his demands and threats have led to no avail.
He has tried everything in his playbook, from threatening to go back to Bulgaria to constantly making appearances on the TitanTron to whine about his situation. If things continue along the same path, then it is believed that Rusev may proceed to physically assault Shane McMahon. This could build up to a match at Summerslam.

What’s next?
If the rumours are true, then the WWE has all but confirmed one of the matches for Summerslam 2017. However, it is important to note that these are just rumours.
Author’s take
Right now, it just seems like the WWE is trying everything possible to make Rusev’s return exciting and interesting for the WWE Universe, and there is no better way to do that than by setting up a match between him and Shane McMahon.
