From the WWE Rumor Mill: Shane McMahon not as injured as we thought?

What's the story?

According to a report by People magazine, Smackdown Live commissioner Shane McMahon may not be severely injured after all, following his leap off of the top of the hell in a cell cage on Sunday.

In case you didn't know...

Shane McMahon took one of the nastiest-looking leaps of faith, jumping off the top of the hell in a cell structure. He intended to hit Kevin Owens with an elbow drop through the announce table, but missed after Sami Zayn pulled Owens out of the way.

McMahon took a similar fall at Wrestlemania 32 against The Undertaker, jumping off the cell and missing the deadman with an elbow.

Afterwards, WWE reported that McMahon was potentially dealing with "multiple injuries, including neck trauma, fractured ribs, and a dislocated shoulder."

The heart of the matter

While multiple websites reported that McMahon was injured, People released an article on Tuesday stating that McMahon's injuries were just a part of the storyline. According to their insider source, “Shane was in fact not severely injured and not in the hospital.”

The article also stated that it was all part of the show and that McMahon was just fine.

What's next?

Obviously, the fall McMahon took was scary. While his injuries may not be as severe as WWE is reporting them to be, other sites have said McMahon did sustain some minor injuries. Hopefully, there's full clarification on Shane's condition in the near future.

Author's Take

The last time McMahon did a leap like this, no injuries were reported. That's what made me hesitant about the injury reports of McMahon from this Sunday's leap.

It's still a massive bump to take, and injuries occur all the time with things like that, but I still had some doubts over the validity of what WWE was reporting.

It's good to see that Shane O'Mac is fine and resting at home. It will be interesting where WWE goes with this storyline in the weeks to come.
