What's the story?

Dave Meltzer talked about Sheamus' Spinal Stenosis injury on the Wrestling Observer Radio and revealed that WWE was protecting him from worsening his condition.

In case you didn't know...

Recently, Sheamus revealed on his workout Youtube channel that he had been working with an injury over the past six months. He discussed his injury, and said that it was Stenosis (a narrowing of a body channel), and went on to explain how he had been rehabbing his injury.

The revelation of the injury quickly circulated across the internet, as fans expressed their concerns over the well being of the Celtic Warrior, who had been working matches and wrestling continuously through the injury.

Spinal Stenosis was the reason WWE legends like 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Adam 'Edge' Copeland had to retire from wrestling prematurely.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer discussed Sheamus' injury on Wrestling Observer Radio and mentioned the methods WWE had used to protect the Celtic Warrior from worsening his condition.

"They are definitely protecting him right now."

Meltzer pointed out that Sheamus had been taking fewer bumps in WWE Live Events in Dubai. WWE has had Sheamus also participate in six-man tag team matches as a means for him to have less involvement required.

Unfortunately for Sheamus, the injury could not have come at a worse time. Cesaro and Sheamus recently became the Raw Tag Team Champions, and have been in a feud with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose of the Shield.

What's next?

WWE may have to drastically change their plans for Sheamus after his injury. Sheamus and Cesaro could lose the tag titles in the future for Sheamus to take time off to recover.

Sportskeeda will keep fans updated on Sheamus' recovery process as this story develops.

Author's take

Sheamus has been one of the most consistent workers in WWE for a long time. It is terrible for him to have such a serious injury at a time when he was finally getting a big push in his career.

Here's hoping Sheamus makes a full recovery and continues to raise 'The Bar' with tag team partner Cesaro.
