From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Rock's role at WrestleMania possibly revealed
What's the story?
According to a report on Cagesideseats, The Rock is scheduled to appear at WrestleMania this Sunday in New Orleans, and he will do so in a segment alongside none other than current WWE Superstar Elias.
In case you didn't know…
Reports about The Rock appearing at WrestleMania have been ambiguous at best, with some claiming there is no word about his return, while some betting websites show good odds that The Great One would be present on WWE's biggest PPV of the year.
Elias, in an interview with Sportskeeda, has confirmed that he would be involved in a very special performance at WrestleMania. WWE themselves have also teased a special performance by a mystery Superstar during the WM weekend, and this Superstar is strongly speculated to be Elias.
The heart of the matter
The report indicates that The People's Champion is scheduled to appear alongside Elias in a singing segment at WrestleMania. Elias had expressed his desire to sing alongside the Great One a few months ago, and now it looks like we will get to witness this on Sunday!
Elias has been able to get over with the fans in the last few months with his Drifter persona, in which he comes to the ring every week with a guitar and puts on a musical performance. Initially getting the audience behind him by asking them "Who wants to walk with Elias?", the segment usually ends with Elias insulting the fans with a jibe at the city he is in or some other cultural/sports team reference.
The Rock himself isn't new to musical performances though, having made his 'Rock Concerts' famous during his Hollywood heel persona. His recent concert was during his feud with John Cena in 2012, with The Rock going on to insult the Leader of Cenation with a not-so-PG song.
What's next?
WrestleMania is set to emanate from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans this Sunday. Elias has not been confirmed for any match during the event, but will most definitely be involved in a musical segment at least.
Author's take
Any segment involving The Rock will be an entertaining one for sure. But throw in Elias and a guitar, and the whole segment is sure to be a must-watch during the biggest event of the year!
