From the WWE Rumor Mill: Rusev and Randy Orton feud not over
What's the story?
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer believes the feud between "The Bulgarian Brute" Rusev and "The Viper" Randy Orton is not done.
The two met at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view this past weekend with Orton going over in a 12-minute match.
In case you didn't know...
The match at Hell In A Cell was a rubber match of sorts after Orton and Rusev traded wins in matches that lasted under a minute.
After Rusev defeated Orton in eight seconds with the help of Aiden English, he was given the key to the city of his hometown in Bulgaria, but Orton interrupted the ceremony with an RKO out of nowhere.
The heart of the matter
A report from Dave Meltzer last week said that the match at Hell In A Cell would become a Last Man Standing Match. This rumour came from a match the two had at a WWE Live event in Japan with the same stipulation.
Meltzer still thinks the WWE is going to go this route and continue the feud at Survivor Series. That is the next pay-per-view for the SmackDown Live brand and it will take place on November 19th from Houston, Texas.
What's next?
Considering most felt that the Hell In A Cell match was the end of the feud, it will be interesting to see how they continue the feud (if they choose to do so). We may get those answers on tonight's edition of SmackDown Live.
Author's take
While the build to the feud wasn't spectacular, I thought Rusev and Randy had a very solid match at Hell In A Cell. If they can up the intensity of the feud somehow over the next few weeks, they can build more excitement around the match at Survivor Series if it happens.
If there is another match, Rusev has to absolutely win. He has all of the tools inside and out of the ring to be in the main event picture, and I hope they push him to that point sooner than later.
