From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Shield reunion may not last beyond the end of the year
What's the story?
As excited as we all were for the reunion of The Shield this past Monday on Raw, you couldn't blame fans for wondering "just how long is this going to last, anyway?"
Well, we don't have a concrete answer to that but, based on a rumour from a reputable source, don't expect the "Hounds of Justice" to remain a unit following the start of the new year.
In case you didn't know...
After months of teasing, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose finally re-joined forces to become The Shield once again.
Of course, as the story has played out on TV, this reunion has come about to gain a modicum of revenge against The Miz, Cesaro, and Sheamus, all of which the three Shield members have had issues with over the last couple of months.
The upcoming Raw exclusive PPV, Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, has the faction facing Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, and their partner Braun Strowman.
The heart of the matter
According to Cageside Seats in their latest Rumor Roundup, don't expect to see this Shield story go past the end of the year.
Which, when you think about it, is just the right amount of time for a reunion of this type to last.
What's next?
The TLC PPV, where The Shield will have their first match since re-forming, will be held at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 22nd, 2017.
Author's take
The return of The Shield was just the shot in the arm all three men in the group needed -- especially Roman. It's nostalgia, sure, but it's also well done enough that it makes sense in the current environment. And, let's face it, we knew this was coming sooner than later, and -- as far as I'm concerned -- it's going really, really well.
But, it can't last forever, and it shouldn't. The reunion needs to end in a big match a Survivor Series and then have all three guys go their own way afterwards -- with the agreement that they'll bring the team back together when they're needed again.
