From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Ultimate Deletion match is being filmed on March 08, 2018
What's the story?
This Monday night on Raw, Matt Hardy challenged Bray Wyatt to a final showdown at The Hardy Compound, naming it The Ultimate Deletion.
PW Insider have confirmed that the "match" is being filmed today, and released more details around the match.
In case you didn’t know…
Matt Hardy was never the most charismatic member of Team Xtreme - well, how could be when his brother called himself The Charismatic Enigma? That all changed, though, when Matt debuted his 'Broken' gimmick on Impact Wrestling back in 2016, going on to have a lengthy feud with Brother Nero, also known as Jeff Hardy, culminating in a match at The Hardy Compound and taking the world of wrestling by storm.
After returning to WWE at WrestleMania last year, Matt and Jeff reverted back to Team Xtreme gimmick for their WWE return and had a good run as Tag Team Champions.
After Jeff Hardy was sidelined with an injury, and after Impact dropped their legal claim to the gimmick, Matt finally took on his Broken gimmick in WWE, albeit under the name Woken, and has been engaged in a long-term rivalry with "The Consumer of Terrestrial Entities" Bray Wyatt.
Well, Matt Hardy defeated Bray Wyatt at Elimination Chamber and seemingly broke Wyatt, with The Eater of Worlds showing his darker side with aggressive, quick victories in recent weeks.
Matt Hardy proclaimed that The Great War was not over and challenged Wyatt to a showdown outside the mortal realm known as WWE and invited the former WWE Champion to The Hardy Compound!
The heart of the matter
Mike Johnson of PW Insider has reported that WWE will be filming the Matt Hardy vs Bray Wyatt Ultimate Deletion match today at the Hardy Compound in Cameron, North Carolina.
While there is no official word whether Senor Benjamin, Reby Hardy and King Maxel will be appearing during the filming, Monday's footage featuring Vanguard1 would hint that elements of the Hardy Universe will be featured throughout.
It's also been rumoured that Jeff Hardy has been cleared by non-WWE doctors, so we may even see an appearance from Brother Nero - although that depends how quick WWE would be to officially clear Jeff and rush him back to action.
PW Insider also reported that sources indicated Jeff is slated to visit the WWE Performance Center later this month, but the Ultimate Deletion may not require Brother Nero to appear in a physical role.
After Jeremy Borash recently signed with WWE, there's also talk that he may be involved in the writing and booking of the match.
What's next?
Well, there's still no news as to when we will see this match, with WrestleMania rumoured, but speculation also suggesting it may be a part of Raw on the road to WrestleMania.
Author's take
After last year's House of Horrors didn't quite go to plan, a lot of people seem worried about this. I'm very optimistic that, with Borash on board and us actually being immersed in Matt Hardy's world, that this could be incredible!
Needless to say, I'm very excited to see how it all plays out.
