From the WWE rumor mill: Top indie star headlines next month's NXT signing class
What's the story?
Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that a major indie free agent is set to report to NXT in January with Ricochet aka Prince Puma. He will join former Ring Of Honor World Tag Team Champions War Machine (Hanson and Rowe) as the word is making the rounds in the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
In case you didn't know...
Ricochet began his pro wrestling career in 2003 and has appeared for almost every major indie promotion around the world including Chikara, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Evolve, Dragon Gate USA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Lucha Underground.
The heart of the matter...
The last televised appearance for Ricochet was as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground, he defeated Johnny Mundo in a title v. career match on the season three finale that aired this past October.
Immediately after the match, Pentagon Dark cashed in his Gift Of The Gods Championship, and LU boss Dario Cueto made this a loser leaves Lucha Underground title match that Pentagon Dark won.
Though these final matches were taped nearly 18 months ago, Ricochet couldn't sign with the WWE until 90 days after Ultima Lucha Tres aired on the El Rey Network.
What's next?
Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for any updates regarding Ricochet including the official announcement from the WWE; which seems to be set for after the new year.
Author's take...
The roster of NXT is already amazing, and it is hard to believe that it could get better, but it is going to. There are so many dream matches I can think of already with Ricochet on NXT including Aleister Black, Adam Cole, and Roderick Strong.
I think 2018 will be an amazing year for the brand as it continues to reach new heights.
