From The WWE Rumor Mill: Top Mae Young Classic contestant could be on the verge of signing with the WWE
What's the story?
Respected Pro Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently reported that top Independent star and Mae Young Classic contestant Candice LeRae could finally be signing a contract with the WWE and start performing under the company's developmental banner of NXT.
In case you didn't know...
Candice LeRae is regarded as one of the most talented female wrestlers in the entire world today and she is also known for regularly taking part in intergender matches for various Indy promotions. LeRae, who is currently married to NXT superstar Johnny Gargano, is also a former PWG Tag Team Champion and a former Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion as well.
Candice has also wrestled for top global promotions such Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling in the past and she has been wrestling for numerous top Indy promotions such as CZW, Bar Wrestling, and Shimmer Women Athletes. In the past, LeRae has also been seen working for NXT on a temporary basis.
The heart of the matter
During the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that 32-year-old Candice LeRae is currently under WWE's radar who seem to be very interested in signing the Mae Young Classic contestant. Meltzer has reported that Candice is currently going through the process of signing with the WWE and it means that she will be off the Indie scene for a while, more specifically until she signs a contract with the WWE.
LeRae is yet to sign a deal with the WWE but she remains as one of the most popular women to ever wrestle at the Full Sail University, where she has performed as an enhancement talent in the past.
What's next?
Candice LeRae is surely one of the top female stars on the planet today who is fully capable of hanging in the ring with the mean dudes of wrestling, such as the likes of the Young Bucks, Shane Strickland and even her own husband Johnny Gargano. Apparently, in 2017, LeRae also made her final appearance for top Japanese promotion DDT which remains as an indication that she could be on her way to the WWE in the near future.
Author's take
There is no doubt in anyone's mind on how talented Candice LeRae is inside the squared circle and she is someone who I think will perfectly fit into the WWE scene and also is capable enough of leading the NXT Women's division.
