From the WWE Rumor Mill: Two injured Superstars ready to return
What’s the story?
After a rough couple of weeks on the injury front, in which Asuka, Big Cass, Xavier Woods and Samoa Joe have each gone down hurt in recent days, PWInsider.com is reporting that both Primo Colon and Darren Young have been cleared to return after fairly lengthy spells out of action.
In case you didn’t know…
Primo has been on the injured list since the start of July when it was reported that he’d suffered a knee injury and was set to undergo surgery as a result.
Darren Young, meanwhile, has been away a little longer.
After taking a bump off the apron at a main event taping back in January of this year, he went down with what he very wordily described on Twitter as a “hyperextension which resulted in a traumatic & fracture of the coronoid process of the right elbow.” Easy for some to say.
Going in depth
The report also notes that Primo is slated to be back on the road as soon as possible, where he’ll presumably join up with the SmackDown brand that he was drafted to back in April.
For Young, on the other hand, there’s currently no word on when exactly he’ll be brought back into the fold.
What's next?
With Primo coming back, that likely means that we’ll be seeing Epico return to action as well, as he’s also been kept off television since his partner went down with the injury. The two were hardly setting the world alight in the SmackDown tag division before the layoff, but they did offer some much-needed depth to the ranks.
And given that Young was being used primarily in the main event scene prior to his injury, don’t be surprised to see him continue in that role following this eight-month spell on the sidelines.
Author’s take
Though they aren’t necessarily the most blockbuster names, it’s always good to see wrestlers returning from injury.
Plus, time off of television often opens up the possibility of repackaging guys slightly, so perhaps this time off could prove to have been something of a blessing in disguise. Every cloud, and all that jazz...
