What's the story?

Ever since the WWE held its inaugural WWE UK Championship tournament, the expectation has been that this would lead to a WWE UK television show. It's now been quite some time since Tyler Bate became the first WWE UK Champion.

But following on from earlier rumours that the WWE was working on the show, and had a possible name for it, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says we could get the weekly UK show early next year.

In case you didn't know...

The WWE recently conducted a tour of Europe, including several dates in the UK. During this tour, the current WWE UK Champion made his main roster debut by confronting Enzo Amore and defeating him. Later that week, Dunne was announced to be facing Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

Several UK talents also appeared on that week's 205 LIVE with Tyler Bate appearing in a losing effort against the Cruiserweight Champion, Enzo Amore (an actual travesty), and Mark Andrews and Cedric Alexander vs James Drake and Joseph Conners.

The heart of the matter

We've already seen rumours speculating that the WWE are in talks with several UK television broadcasters in an attempt to get the show off of the ground, and are working with the tentative title 'King of the Ring.'

Now, it seems that the WWE is moving further along with the show, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporting that the WWE has told some of its UK wrestlers to be ready for the show early next year.

The WWE indicated to some of their U.K. wrestlers they were looking at doing the weekly U.K. television show starting early next year and are starting once again to book some buildings as placeholders in case the television deal comes through.

The WON also states that WWE will be looking to use several of the recent tryout attendees in Manchester, to fill the show. I've got my fingers crossed for this as several of the attendees were from a local promotion I often venture to.

They were looking at several people from the tryout last week in Manchester for the project if the TV deal come to fruition.

What's next?

We'll have to wait and see what happens early next year, although all of these things are starting to add up.

Recently, Pete Dunne announced that he was unsure about his future wrestling for independent promotions, potentially hinting that he might be on regular WWE programming soon.

Author's take

I have been waiting and waiting for the WWE UK show to come to fruition and it finally looks like we might get something to distract us all until we finally get a Wrestlemania here in the UK.
