Rey Mysterio's WrestleMania dreams hang in the balance

What’s the story?

Per Dave Meltzer of f4wonline, Rey Mysterio is set to undergo a medical evaluation today.

Mysterio suffered an arm injury last week, and his WWE comeback status is said to hinge on today’s evaluation.

In case you didn’t know…

Rey Mysterio is well-known for his work in several notable professional wrestling promotions such as WCW, WWE, and Lucha Underground to name a few.

Mysterio made a surprise return to the WWE, at the Royal Rumble PPV in January of this year, and experts have since noted that the WWE plans on booking him in a prominent match on the WrestleMania 34 PPV card.

The heart of the matter

Several initial reports suggested that Rey Mysterio was set to serve as John Cena’s WrestleMania opponent—with the two commencing their feud this month, however, Mysterio suffered an injury in a Tag Team Match last Friday at a Northeast Wrestling event in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Mysterio is believed to have suffered an arm injury—torn biceps, to be specific—with said injury’s recovery time being no less than 2-3 months.

Per veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, Mysterio has been scheduled for a medical examination today so as to evaluate the torn biceps.

What’s next?

Today’s medical evaluation is said to be key in determining whether or not Rey Mysterio can compete at WrestleMania 34.

The WWE’s biggest annual PPV, WrestleMania, takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8th. Sportskeeda will keep fans updated on Mysterio’s ‘Mania status.

Author’s take

Intriguingly, one of the WWE’s biggest Superstars John Cena, has truly been left without a Road to WrestleMania.

The WWE now faces a challenge in finding Cena a worthy ‘Mania opponent, as Mysterio seems to be dealing with a case of torn biceps—which is no joke.

Here’s hoping all goes well for Mysterio today, and he gets back into the squared circle at the earliest.
