From the WWE Rumor Mill: Update on Ronda Rousey’s partner for her WrestleMania match
What's the story?
It was rumored back in January that a mixed tag-team match between between her and an unnamed partner vs Stephanie McMahon and Triple H was planned at WrestleMania.
As reported by Cageside Seats, it's looking like Kurt Angle will end up filling the role as Ronda Rousey's partner.
In case you didn't know...
Rousey's first WWE appearance was at WrestleMania 31 where she attacked both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H by assisting The Rock.
She then made her official debut for the company at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view earlier this year, interrupting the celebration of the women's Rumble winner, Asuka.
The heart of the matter
At WWE Elimination Chamber, Angle appeared to introduce Rousey for her contract signing, alongside a returning Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. It was confirmed at the beginning of the segment that Rousey will compete at WrestleMania, but not in a championship match. The Raw General Manager claimed that Stephanie called "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey a has-been and that even she could take the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. During the final moments of the segment, Rousey put Triple H through a table before signing her contract.
It looks like the rumored match will happen at WrestleMania and according to Cageside Seats, Angle will most likely be Rousey's partner for her match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
What's next?
WWE Raw takes place tomorrow, and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey would make her first Monday Night Raw appearance tomorrow. Meltzer said, "I am pretty sure Ronda Rousey will be on Raw on Monday. That's not 100%. Pretty sure, but that will be her Raw debut coming off whatever she's doing."
Author's take
Today's contract signing will certainly have repercussions for Kurt Angle. While Rousey probably won't be in a match until WrestleMania, it will be good if she shows up on Raw frequently to build their match along with Kurt Angle.
