From The WWE Rumor Mill: Velveteen Dream's possible return date to NXT TV has been revealed
What’s the story?
Respected Pro Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has reported that top NXT superstar The Velveteen Dream is all set to make his return to NXT TV early next year.
In case you didn’t know…
The Velveteen Dream is one of NXT’s top prospects right now and the gimmick played by Patrick Clark is also considered to be one of the most bizarre yet interesting characters in WWE right now. The Velveteen Dream was last seen on NXT TV at Takeover: WarGames, where the 22-year-old wrestled in an outstanding match against Aleister Black.
However, following his loss Black, fans are yet to see an appearance from Dream on NXT TV and reports have suggested that Dream hasn’t also been seen training at the performance centre.
The heart of the matter
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Velveteen Dream is all set to return to NXT TV next month. It has been reported by The Newsletter that Dream is listed on the NXT bookings sheet for early January and the NXT Universe could witness the epic return of the Washington native in the first few weeks of 2018.
There have been several reports from The Observer that Dream has been written off from NXT TV and live events due to him rehabbing at home due to an injury which he reportedly suffered at Takeover: WarGames.
What’s next?
We can almost certainly expect to see The Velveteen Dream in another amazing rivalry upon his return to NXT TV but it will be interesting to witness who turns out to be Dream’s next rival.
Dream was originally scheduled to take part in the #1 contender’s tournament for the NXT Championship but was later replaced by Johnny Gargano, following his untimely injury.
Author’s Take
The Velveteen Dream’s absence from NXT TV has certainly been noticeable. TVD has been one of the hardest working performers on NXT and seeing his amazing character disappear from TV is indeed a big absence.
