From the WWE Rumor Mill: When Dean Ambrose was actually injured
What's the story?
Dean Ambrose suffered an injury recently and although some fans might have thought it was part of the story, they were sadly mistaken. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Ambrose has probably been working with this arm injury for quite some time now.
In case you didn't know...
The Shield's return to WWE television was a highly successful endeavour so far but it has been riddled with setbacks. Roman Reigns suffered a viral infection before TLC causing WWE to replace him with Kurt Angle and push The Shield's first official match back as a trio.
But just when things started to look like they were going in the right direction, it turns out Dean Ambrose needs to take some time away from the ring due to injury.
The heart of the matter
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports Ambrose has actually been working with an injury for a while now. It was speculated that Ambrose could have initially hurt his arm at TLC during a botched table spot when a table didn't break like it was supposed to.
The storyline was written into Raw so Ambrose could take some time off and have a surgery in order to see what his problem was. This is why The Lunatic Fringe was wearing a protective brace on his arm during the match as well because Ambrose was already hurt and WWE knew it.
Apparently, people thought the problem was with Ambrose's elbow until Dr Dugas got in there during surgery and discovered his triceps muscle was around 50% torn off the bone.
What's next?
There is no current timetable for Dean Ambrose to return although it's looking better than six months which would be his expected recovery time if it had been a full triceps tear.
Author's take
Let's hope Dean Ambrose is able to get back in the ring soon because his presence will be missed on Raw and at house shows because he is very popular with fans. This is an awful time of the year to go out due to injury as well seeing how the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania are so close.
