From the WWE Rumor Mill: WrestleMania plans for Ronda Rousey revealed
What's the story?
It is almost certain that Ronda Rousey will be at WrestleMania in New Orleans. Dave Meltzer has reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the current plans for her on April 8th in New Orleans.
In case you didn't know...
Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara, California. She joined The Rock in the ring in a promo and a little physicality with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
The heart of the matter
There were a few rumoured matches for Rousey at this upcoming WrestleMania, but it looks like we will be getting the 8-woman tag team we have wanted. Meltzer states that the WWE is "working hard" towards a Four Horsewomen of WWE vs. Four Horsewomen of MMA match.
Ronda Rousey has already been training with Brian Kendrick of the past few months to get ready for WrestleMania, and Shayna Baszler is already an accomplished pro wrestler, even finishing as a runner-up at the Mae Young Classic.
With the plans unfolding now, this gives the other two women, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Sharif, months to train to prepare for this big matchup.
The original plans were to have the eight women face off at Survivor Series, but since the debut will get the most publicity, the WWE figured it was best to leave this for WrestleMania.
What's next?
One of the Four Horsewomen of the WWE has a chance at the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship this Tuesday as Charlotte Flair takes on Natalya. This edition of SmackDown takes place in Charlotte's hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Author's take
While it would be cool for Ronda to make her debut in a singles match, I think the moment will be even more special when she gets that hot tag for her first action in the ring.
This is definitely a WrestleMania-worthy type match and it will get a lot of mainstream attention as well.
