The WWE plans to focus solely on hyping Asuka's TLC debut on next week's episode of RAW

What’s the story?

As per PWInsider, WWE changed the script for this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW multiple times during the night.

The aforementioned changes were with regards to the Triple Threat Women’s match that was supposed to take place between Nia Jax, Emma and Alicia Fox, in order to determine a foe for Asuka’s TLC debut later this month.

However, the match was scrapped, owing to plans for having a 6-Woman Tag Team matchup on RAW next week. Finally, management decided to go ahead with the Fatal 5-Way bout which did take place on the show.

In case you didn’t know…

Highly regarded wrestler and former NXT Women’s Champion Asuka is set to make her main roster debut at RAW’s TLC PPV on the 22nd of this month.

The Japanese Superstar’s introduction to the RAW brand is reportedly being accorded considerable importance by WWE, which, in turn, led to the promotion changing its script for the Women’s match to determine an opponent worthy of welcoming the Empress of Tomorrow.

The heart of the matter

If one is to believe the buzz in the professional wrestling community, the powers-that-be first zeroed in on the Triple Threat showdown which would’ve had Nia Jax, Emma and Alicia Fox compete for the right to face Asuka.

Plans were then changed to have a huge 6-Woman Tag Team match next week, although it’s unclear as to which specific competitors the WWE planned to use in the bout.

Regardless, it’s now being emphasized that the Fatal 5-Way match between Emma, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Dana Brooke and Alicia Fox was an absolute last-minute decision by the WWE, primarily to fully focus on promoting Asuka's debut on the go-home episode of RAW next week.

What’s next?

The aforementioned match was won by Emma who will compete against Asuka at the upcoming RAW brand-exclusive Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV which goes down on October 22nd.

Author’s take

Well, last minute or not, the Women of the red brand put on a fantabulous performance on RAW.

The very fact that WWE seem to be paying as much heed to Asuka’s RAW debut simply goes to show how much clout the Japanese powerhouse exercises in the sport today.
