From the WWE Rumor Mill: WWE looking forward to hosting more shows in the same city for Raw and SmackDown

The WWE Universe could possibly witness more bad blood between Raw and Smackdown next year
The WWE Universe could possibly witness more bad blood between Raw and Smackdown next year

What's the story?

According to PWInisder, WWE is currently looking forward to hosting more consecutive shows for both Monday Night Raw and Smackdown Live in the same city and same arena in 2018.

In case you didn't know...

Ever since WWE's brand split in 2016, WWE has always hosted shows in different cities and different arenas for both their brands. However, previously it has been witnessed that WWE has filmed in the same building for both SmackDown and Raw, but only on rare occasions.

It is usually after one of the big 4 PPVs (Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series) when WWE decides to host shows for both Raw and Smackdown in the same arena and city. The big 4 pay-per-view shows are all produced by the WWE for both their main brands of Raw and SmackDown Live. Hence, it makes sense if both the brands decide to host their respective shows in the same building following one of these PPVs.

The heart of the matter

PWInsider has recently reported that in 2018, WWE is planning on to film more shows in the same city for both Raw and SmackDown Live. This report has also led to the speculation that the WWE Universe might possibly witness the Superstars of both Raw and SmackDown come face-to-face with each other more often, during these back-to-back shows.

Reports also suggest that Vince McMahon's company are currently planning on hosting another co-branded PPV in 2018, which is the WWE Money in the Bank PPV. It has been reported that both superstars from Raw and Smackdown Live will be taking part in the MITB show next year, which will be taking place Chicago, Illinois.

What's next?

WWE is yet to confirm the news and make an official statement regarding the addition of another co-branded PPV for next year, despite numerous reports suggesting that the promotion is indeed looking forward to hosting back-to-back shows for both the red and the blue brand of the WWE.

However, if WWE does decide to go forward with this plan then fans should get ready to witness more battle for brand supremacy in 2018.

Author's Take

Personally, I have always enjoyed the bad blood between both Raw and Smackdown and seeing them compete in the battle for brand supremacy is always fun and exciting. Therefore, I think the promotion should go ahead with the plan for next year because it might turn out to be a real success for the Stamford based company.
