From the WWE Rumor Mill: WWE's future plans for Ronda Rousey

What does the future hold for Ronda Rousey?
What does the future hold for Ronda Rousey?

What's the story?

Ronda Rousey had a lengthy storyline from her Royal Rumble debut leading up to her match at WrestleMania against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, but it is being reported that she will now be added to the Women's Division as a full-time competitor moving forward.

In case you didn't know...

Rousey's move over to WWE was one of the biggest acquisitions that the company has been able to lock down in a number of years. It seems that her arrival really boosted the Women's Division earlier this year and following her WrestleMania victory earlier this month, she has already started to make an impact in the Women's Division.

Rousey is still undefeated in WWE, even though she has only had one sanctioned match, but the company knows that they need to book her to look strong given her UFC background, which could cause them a number of issues when it comes to trying to book the women around Rousey as well.

The heart of the matter

Rousey signed a full-time contract with WWE which means that she will be working and traveling with the other superstars on the show and now it seems that the company is looking at the options for her moving into SummerSlam where it's rumored that there will be a match between current friends Natalya and Rousey.

Rousey's future was a hot topic of conversation as part of The Wrestling Observer today where Bryan Alvarez explained how he thinks the company could build up to the Natalya/Rousey feud by SummerSlam. (transcript via Ringsidenews)

"[Ronda Rousey] is working some dates with Mickie James which was set up on Raw and I actually would not be surprised if they did the slow burn to Ronda and Nattie and they did the Ronda Rousey vs Mickie James matches — I don’t know if it’s going to be on Backlash, it might be. They’re still building up that Backlash card.”

What's next?

Mickie James looks to be the woman on Ronda's radar right now and it could be interesting to have a veteran like James in the ring with Rousey in her first singles match at Backlash, it would definitely be the perfect scenario for Rousey to shine in if the company gives that match the green light.

Author's take

Rousey has been training to be part of the company for a number of years, but it's easy to see that Stephanie McMahon wasn't the right person for her to face in her first match.

James and Natalya are veterans and women who have already proved their worth so they are the perfect ones to make Rousey look her best in the coming months.

Rousey's first singles match is one that is hotly anticipated and James would definitely be the perfect level of competition for her.
