From the WWE Rumor Mill: WWE seemingly showing no interest in signing former Impact star James Storm

Will James Storm ever head to WWE?
Will James Storm ever head to WWE?

What's the story?

WWE have recently signed several former Impact Wrestling talents such as Rockstar Spud (now known as Drake Maverick), EC3 and most recently, Mahabali Shera. However, one notable name missing is James Storm. But is he on the WWE's radar following his departure from Impact?

In case you didn't know...

James Storm actually made two appearances for NXT, beating Danny Burch on 21 October and defeating Adam Rose in December 2015. However, Storm opted not to sign for NXT having been offered a last minute deal from TNA that greatly surpassed the deal he would have gotten from WWE.

The heart of the matter

James Storm is undeniably a top talent in wrestling, claiming 16 titles and several other accolades for TNA/Impact Wrestling. A Beer Money reunion in WWE would also be something worth seeing, but Dave Meltzer recently indicated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the WWE don't seem to be too interested.

One thing notable is that a few years ago when James Storm came to NXT and did a television match and got over like crazy, and then went back to TNA because they offered him well over double what WWE did, that now that his TNA contract has expired, we haven’t seen any talk at this to this point of him to WWE.

It is strange that the WWE would snap up the likes of EC3, Spud, and Shera while maintaining massive interest in bringing Bobby Lashley back, but as Meltzer states, there seems to be no interest in, or talk of, Storm signing with WWE.

What's next?

Storm has indicated that he'd love to go to WWE but unfortunately for him, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon. This could also be what Storm is referring to in this recent tweet, indicating he still wants a WWE run and is going to work hard to get it.

Author's take

I'd love to see James Storm in the WWE. He is one of the greatest wrestlers not working for WWE at the moment and the promotion should absolutely sign him up in a jiffy if an opportunity arises. We'll have to wait and see if it happens though.
