Will John Cena stand tall at Survivor Series?
Will John Cena stand tall at Survivor Series?

What's the story?

According to a report from Cageside Seats, Raw is expected to edge the battle of the brands at Survivor Series. The flagship show is likely to take the women's elimination match while Shane McMahon is set to lead his team to victory.

In case you didn't know...

Survivor Series has now become the battleground where Raw and SmackDown Live go head-to-head. This year the two brands will compete against each other in four champion vs. champion matches and two 5-on-5 elimination matches.

On the October 30, 2017, episode of Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon returned to television and announced that Kurt Angle would be fired as General Manager if his team failed to win.

The heart of the matter

With the addition of Triple H and John Cena to an already star-studded lineup, the men's elimination match promises to be one of the most exciting in history. It is also, without any shadow of a doubt, the marquee attraction at Survivor Series 2017.

While a victory for Shane McMahon's team may put Kurt Angle's job in jeopardy, the Olympic Gold medalist could still survive if Raw wins the night overall.

Since the flagship show's women's team features the newly-promoted Asuka, it only makes sense for them to overcome their counterparts who perform on Thursday nights. There is also the small matter of the vacant spot on Team SmackDown Live which will likely be filled by Natalya.

What's next?

Survivor Series takes place on November 19, 2017, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The future of Kurt Angle will be decided the following night on Raw.

Author's take

If this report is accurate, Raw will win the night before the main event, the men's elimination match takes place. Detracting from a marquee attraction of this magnitude would be criminal, but this is the same company that failed to successfully book a WCW invasion — the easiest money grab in the history of professional wrestling — after all.
