The Beast will emerge victorious in this battle of Goliaths!
The Beast will emerge victorious in this battle of Goliaths!

What's the story?

Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman are all set to collide in the main event of No Mercy, this month. According to a rumour on Cageside Seats, The Beast Incarnate will retain the Universal Championship. However, even in defeat, Braun Strowman will be made to look very strong. His dominance will not be undermined after the big match.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman were part of a Fatal 4-Way match for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam in Brooklyn, last month. During the match, Braun Strowman absolutely dominated Lesnar, making him look vulnerable for the first time in years.

This led to a confrontation, the following night on Raw, where Strowman attacked Brock Lesnar. As a result of this clash, a match has been booked for No Mercy where Strowman will take on Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

The heart of the matter

In all likelihood, the plan is for Brock Lesnar to face Roman Reigns in the main event of Wrestlemania 34, in New Orleans. Braun Strowman does not feature in the plans. Therefore, WWE cannot put the Universal Championship on him right now.

At the same time, they see him as a long term asset and a potential goldmine. They will protect Strowman, even in defeat, so that he can become a certified main eventer in the many years that follow.

What's next?

This week on Raw, Braun Strowman takes on The Big Show in the world's biggest steel cage match ever. Expect the clash to be monstrous, in more ways than one.

Author's take

If it were up to me, I would put the Universal Championship on Braun Strowman, and have a full-time performer at the helm. However, Vince McMahon knows best and that's why he runs a multi billion dollar enterprise and, well, I don't. In any case, I'm very excited about the Lesnar-Strowman match.
