From the WWE Rumour Mill: Brock Lesnar sold a 'worked' injury backstage

Did Brock Lesnar work the WWE Universe with his injury?
Did Brock Lesnar work the backstage crew with his injury?

What's the story?

It was rumoured that Brock Lesnar had suffered an injury following his match with AJ Styles. It turned out that the injury was a work.

Lesnar did not just sell the injury on screen, but also backstage so as to convince everyone behind the scenes that he had indeed been grievously hurt. We bring you the rumour, as per Cageside Seats. However, it doesn't appear that he didn't suffer any repercussions for his actions.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles went to war at Survivor Series, and one of the most memorable spots in the match was when AJ Styles applied the 'calf crusher' submission move to the Beast.

While Lesnar was not really injured by the move, he worked the entire WWE Universe into believing that he had been. We're told that he did not stop selling, even when he reached the backstage area following the match.

The heart of the matter

The report of Lesnar feigning his injury was first published by Wrestling Observer and later made it to the 'Rumour Roundup' section of Cageside Seats. During an era when it is near impossible to work an audience into believing in something, Lesnar may just have tricked all of us.

Indeed, Lesnar was even selling his injury backstage following the match. We wonder if this is a way to write him off television for some time, considering that the next RAW pay-per-view is the Royal Rumble in January. His next contender may be determined later down the line.

What's next?

AJ Styles had an impressive showing against Brock Lesnar but goes up against Jinder Mahal, presumably at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view event. As for Lesnar, we do not know. All we do know is that he's probably not nursing an injury as we write this.

Author's take?

I guess Lesnar put Styles over big following their match and made him look like a legitimate Superstar. Kudos to The Beast for caring about the most talented performer of our generation and putting him over, even in defeat. I hope that the two men do clash again.
