From the WWE Rumour Mill: Cruiserweights will be included in the Royal Rumble match

205 LIVE stars should appear in the Royal Rumble

205 LIVE stars should appear in the Royal Rumble

What's the story?

Whilst the focus seems to be on who will be in the women's Royal Rumble match, it's important not to forget that the men's Royal Rumble match will also have a few surprises, the first of which being that WWE is going to allow Cruiserweights to enter the match, according to Cageside Seats.

In case you didn't know...

Quite a few of RAW and SmackDown LIVE's top stars have already been announced as competing in this year's Royal Rumble match. From the red side we have Matt Hardy, Elias, Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt and from the blue side, we have Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, Aiden English and Baron Corbin. Then, of course, there's free agent John Cena.

The heart of the matter

It seems that the Cruiserweights will get their time to shine at the Royal Rumble as well as the slightly heavier Superstars on the main roster with reported plans for a Cruiserweight Title match to take place at the show.

However, Cageside Seats reported that the WWE is going to include representatives from the 205 LIVE division in their Royal Rumble match. That means we could see the high flying moves of Mustafa Ali, and the comedic antics of Drew Gulak appear.

What's next?

It's unlikely that the likes of Drew Gulak and Mustafa Ali, or whoever enters from the Cruiserweight Division will be winning the match. But it'll be good to see them get a small piece of the spotlight that they definitely deserve, and I'm sure there'll be the odd 'Kofi Kingston-esque' spot involving at least one of them.

Author's take

It makes sense that at least some of the Cruiserweights would be in the Royal Rumble so hopefully these rumours are true, because I know I'd be a little irritated if they didn't even get a chance to enter.
