From the WWE Rumour Mill: Disappointing news about Brock Lesnar's next appearance
What's the story?
What is the similarity between Brock Lesnar and Halley's Comet? You don't see either every week, and every single sighting is a precious one.
We had reported that the Universal Champion was advertised for the December 18th edition of RAW. Yes, he is still on, but Cageside Seats reported a rumour that he would only be back for a dark appearance.
In case you didn't know...
Brock Lesnar was last seen in a clash of the champions against WWE Champion, AJ Styles, at Survivor Series. As one would expect, Lesnar picked up a win, after going to war with the reigning, defending, champion on SmackDown Live.
It was reported that he worked the audience into believing that he was injured, following the match. He even worked those backstage to believe in the same. The fact of the matter is that he used the injury as an angle to write himself off television, until his next feud happens.
The heart of the matter
The 18th December edition of RAW comes to us from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. It is exactly a week prior to the Christmas edition of RAW (yes, RAW will take place on Christmas day, this year).
The speculation right now is that Lesnar is being brought in to sell some tickets before Christmas week. There's a strong rumour going around that he won't be defending the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble, because WWE does not have a suitable opponent for him, right now.
What's next?
In time, we will be able to gauge if these rumours are true or not. We should also be able to find out if WWE can find a suitable opponent for Lesnar. It would really be a shame, if they actually cannot.
Author's take
I'm not a fan of Lesnar appearing only in a dark match, when he holds the top prize not just in WWE but in the business. That makes him merely a makeshift champion, until Reigns takes the belt off his shoulders.
When Superstars such as Balor, Wyatt and even Kurt Angle can have good matches against the Beast, why would the company deprive us of a solid program?
