From the WWE Rumour Mill: Former World Champion could be set to partner Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania
What's the story?
Ever since her WWE Royal Rumble debut last month, the rumour mill has been churning when it comes to Ronda Rousey's WrestleMania match. It seems that the current plan is for her to be part of a tag team match against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, with her current rumoured partner being Seth Rollins.
In case you didn't know...
The original speculation was that Ronda was going to face either Charlotte or Asuka at WrestleMania, but with plans seemingly pointing towards Charlotte facing Asuka and Alexa Bliss facing Nia Jax, the only other option for Ronda was the tag match that was originally set up from her first appearance back at WrestleMania 31.
The Rock was obviously her original choice of partner but it seems that given his outside commitments, it's highly unlikely that The People's Champion would be able to return to be part of a match with WWE's newest recruit.
This has left Ronda's partner choice up in the air over the past few weeks as WWE fans continue to speculate about who the chosen person could be.
The heart of the matter
Sports Illustrated are reporting that Jax vs Bliss and Charlotte vs Asuka are pretty much a lock for WrestleMania which leaves Ronda in the rumoured tag team match. Right now The Rock is still at the top of WWE's wishlist as her partner, but it seems that the company has thrown in a few backups just in case.
Raw General Manager Kurt Angle could be the man to take the position but since he worked injured at Survivor Series, the company could be reluctant to allow him to do so again as part of the biggest event of the year.
Shane McMahon has already planted seeds for a feud with Triple H, but with WrestleMania, less than two months away and with McMahon locked in a feud with Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, he is another unlikely option.
It seems that the man that the company has left is Seth Rollins. Since Jason Jordan has already been ruled out of WrestleMania, WWE has no other plans for The Architect and since he faced Triple H at last year's WrestleMania and won, it seems that they could claim that he has a history with both of Ronda's opponents.
Rollins is currently the most unlikely person to partner the former UFC Champion out of WWE's four options but is also the only active WWE superstar who would have nothing better to do at WrestleMania, which could make him the perfect candidate.
What's next?
Ronda Rousey is set to appear at Elimination Chamber next weekend where she will officially sign her WWE contract. It might become clearer at that point as to what direction WWE are hoping to take the former MMA star leading up to WrestleMania.
Author's take
WrestleMania is around seven weeks away and it seems that as ever, speculation is rife. WWE's WrestleMania plans for Seth Rollins have fallen apart in recent weeks so it seems that this would be a fallback option for the former Shield member.
Obviously, The Rock is still WWE's planned opponent but as the company comes closer and closer to the biggest event of the year, at some point they will realise that they might have to make plans for a WrestleMania without The People's Champion.
