From the WWE Rumour Mill: Matt Hardy may be joined by other members of the Hardy Family soon
What's the story?
'Woken' Matt Hardy finally faced Bray Wyatt inside a WWE ring after months of promos building up their feud. Matt Hardy lost this match in a surprisingly short amount of time after Bray Wyatt hit him with the Sister Abigail's Kiss.
Since then, Matt Hardy has taken to Twitter to acknowledge his defeat against Bray Wyatt and hint that other members of the Hardy family will join him in WWE soon.
In case you didn't know...
Matt Hardy recently reverted to a 'WOKEN' person, a gimmick similar to the 'BROKEN' persona he had during his time in Impact Wrestling. He was able to regain the rights to use the 'BROKEN' gimmick from Impact Wrestling, that had held out for a long time.
On this week's 25th Anniversary show of Monday Night Raw, Matt Hardy faced Bray Wyatt in the Manhattan Center. The match was disappointing and did not match up to the hype it had generated. Bray Wyatt won the bout in 2 minutes after he hit Matt Hardy with a Sister Abigail's Kiss to pin him.
The heart of the matter
After his loss to Wyatt, Matt took to Twitter in the above tweet, where he said that he had lost a single battle in the 'Great War', acknowledging his loss. He then said that he would retreat to the Hardy Compound and take the help of the rest of his 'Platoon'. In this tweet, he shared the pictures of his son Maxel, Senor Benjamin and his wife, Rebecca Hardy, all of whom were tied up to his storylines on Impact Wrestling.
He ended the tweet saying that they helped him focus.
In a second tweet, Matt mentioned that he would change things. He hinted that he would return to the beginning of this gimmick, and shift from the 'WOKEN' to the original 'BROKEN' persona. The tweet also mentioned that he was at his best inside the Hardy Compound.
What's next?
The tweets all seem to hint that Matt will be returning to his original 'BROKEN' gimmick and that there may be a future 'battle' inside the Hardy Compound. That may not be all, the other members of the Hardy family such as Senor Benjamin, his wife Rebecca, and his son Maxel, may all be involved in a WWE storyline.
The tweets did not feature Jeff Hardy, also known for his 'BROKEN' persona as Brother Nero. Jeff may be returning from his injury in April. Until then we may not see 'The Charismatic Enigma' involved in this storyline.
Author's take
It is exciting to see Matt hint at the original gimmick returning, as WWE's version has not been too successful so far. It has mostly had him laughing in a maniacal manner, without any payoff. Hopefully, this will change soon.
