From the WWE Rumour Mill: Roman Reigns Planned To Win Universal Championship At WrestleMania
What's the story?
According to a report from the Observer, Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34 is still the plan.
In case you didn't know...
Brock Lesnar won the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 33 when he defeated Goldberg for it, becoming the 4th Universal Champion.
Brock has held the Championship ever since and has been the longest reigning Universal Champion.
Roman Reigns currently holds the Intercontinental Championship which he won after defeating The Miz in a gruelling match at the RAW after Survivor Series. Reigns is all set to defend his Championship at the 25th RAW Anniversary show against The Miz and it is being speculated that The Miz is slated to regain his Championship.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship has been planned for a long time and it appears that WWE are still confident in their plans for the match.
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns clashed at WrestleMania 31 which saw Roman Reigns challenge then WWE Champion Brock in the main event, but it was Seth Rollins who cashed in his MITB Contract in the middle of the match and walked off as the WWE Champion.
Fans have been waiting for a rematch to happen and it looks like the match is on lock for Wrestlemania 34.
What's next?
Wrestlemania will be taking place on 8th April at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Although no matches have been announced officially, the feeling is that Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar and Undertaker vs John Cena will be the featured main-events.
Author's take
Although Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar has already been done, Roman has improved vastly since their last encounter.
Although a lot of fans do not feel this is the correct move and someone like Braun Strowman should be given the opportunity, I think this is Roman's chance to prove to the naysayers that he has got what it to be the top guy.
