From the WWE Rumor Mill: Significant change in betting odds suggest Daniel Bryan could win the Royal Rumble
What's the story?
Betting odds are usually a good indicator of who will win matches within the WWE because the bookmakers usually have insider information on who the company have pencilled in to win.
With that in mind, the odds on Daniel Bryan to win the Royal Rumble has been slashed massively from 66/1 to 10/1 now placing the SmackDown LIVE General Manager as one of the favourites to win the whole thing.
In case you didn't know...
Daniel Bryan is currently retired from in-ring competition after suffering from multiple concussions with WWE doctors refusing to clear him for in-ring action as a result.
Whether or not Bryan will wrestle for the WWE again has been a subject of speculation ever since with many suggesting that his current storyline with Shane McMahon on SmackDown LIVE is leading to his return to the ring, although unlikely.
The heart of the matter
That being said the odds on Daniel Bryan have just massively shifted overnight from 66/1 to 9/1 or 10/1 for most betting sites, with Skybet, Paddy Power and Betfair all dramatically slashing the odds for Bryan. Here are the current odds for Bryan at the time of this writing.
As you can see from his un-updated position in the list, before the change in betting odds Bryan had, at least in betting terms, as much chance of winning the Royal Rumble match as CM Punk, The Undertaker and NXT Superstar Killian Dain. Now Bryan is up there as one of the favourites alongside Shinsuke Nakamura and Roman Reigns.
What's next?
With SmackDown LIVE just around the corner I'm sure we'll learn more about Daniel Bryan's status for the Royal Rumble, however, I'm reluctant to get too carried away over this because as far as we're concerned Bryan is not allowed to wrestle inside a WWE ring, even in Royal Rumble matches.
Author's take
Personally, any bet on Bryan to win the Royal Rumble would be a waste of money. If you're looking for a good tip, Dolph Ziggler and Finn Balor have also climbed in odds recently, put money on one of them instead.
