From the WWE Rumour Mill: Three WWE Legends to appear at RAW's 25th anniversary show?
What's the story?
According to reports from The Sun and Give Me Sport, WWE has been in talks with three Legends to join the already star-studded line-up for the 25th anniversary of RAW.
The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan have all allegedly been contacted to join The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash with Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross already all but confirmed to commentate as well, having both mentioned it in recent weeks.
In case you didn't know...
WWE RAW will celebrate its 25th anniversary on January 22nd, 2018 and the event is scheduled to emanate simultaneously from Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York, and from Manhattan Center - the venue that hosted the first ever RAW.
The heart of the matter
While we have seen The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin sparingly over the past few years. They have tended to make the odd appearance, particularly at huge shows like WrestleMania while the return of Hulk Hogan has been one shrowded in controversy with many thinking the Hulkster may never return to WWE TV.
The Rock is a pretty busy man these days, proclaimed as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, so it really would be quite something to bring him back for the monumental episode of RAW, but the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment has always been more than favourable when it comes to helping out WWE — even appearing at a random house show in 2015.
Stone Cold has most recently been on the WWE Network doing televised versions of his podcast, but we haven't seen him in a WWE ring since WrestleMania 32, making a special appearance alongside the aforementioned HBK and Mick Foley.
Hulk Hogan, on the other hand, was involved in a segment with popular musician Snoop Dog on Monday Night Raw before he was released as a result of the racism scandal.
What's next?
Well, in recent weeks, WWE has been releasing footage of the previous RAW television intros remade by new Superstars and heavily hyping up the event on television with SmackDown Live Superstars even reportedly appearing.
If reports are to be believed, the Manhattan Center is going to see something really special in such an intimate setting with JR and King rumoured to be commentating on that section, but the thought is that there will be a load of video footage of Superstars and celebrities past and present speaking about their experiences with RAW.
WWE is keeping quiet about the actual details of the event/events, so we can probably expect this to be huge!
Author's take
While rumours are just that, we know that when WWE goes big, they really go big.
With this event celebrating 25 years of the landmark show, you have to believe they'll really put the motto of "Then, Now, Forever" into action considering the names already announced.
This is bound to be a blast from the past peppered with surprise appearances and huge matches. One not to be missed!
