From the WWE rumour mill: Uncertainty about Jeff Hardy's status for WrestleMania 34
What's the story?
Shortly before No Mercy, Jeff Hardy suffered an injury and was ruled out of the pay-per-view event altogether. Yesterday, we brought you an update about his condition, and revealed that he was healing (and not broken).
Unfortunately, it seems like Jeff Hardy will have to undergo yet another surgery next week. As a result of the same, Wrestling Inc. reports that his status for WrestleMania 34 is up in the air, right now.
In case you didn't know...
In Jeff Hardy's absence, Matt Hardy has found a worthy tag team partner in Jason Jordan. The two of them have been teaming up on RAW, and it is unclear if Jeff Hardy will return when he does, to realign with Matt Hardy, or do his own thing, as a singles competitor.
Even before his injury, Jeff Hardy was booked in an Intercontinental Championship match against The Miz, fueling speculation as to whether or not he was on the cusp of a major singles push.
The heart of the matter
From what we understand, the first surgery that Hardy underwent was for a torn rotator cuff. His second concerns a torn labrum, that will possibly keep him on the shelf for six to nine months. As a result of the same, Hardy could miss out on WrestleMania 34.
It will be a shame if that happens, considering that the Hardyz got the biggest pop of the night at WrestleMania 33. Let's hope that he beats the odds and comes back before time.
What's next?
The strange alliance between Matt Hardy and Jason Jordan might be a constant feature of RAW in coming months. We have no idea if WWE has any major storyline plans for them.
Author's take
What else can I say but wish all the best to Jeff Hardy? May he recover soon, and compete at his fullest potential like he was always meant to do!
