From the WWE Rumour Mill: Early favourites to win Royal Rumble match revealed
What's the story?
The Royal Rumble is only around a month away. The first WWE pay-per-view of 2018 will take place on the 28th of January at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Odds have started to come in on the favourites to win the Men's Royal Rumble. Sites like Paddy Power have reported the odds and disclosed the favourites for this edition.
In case you didn't know...
The Royal Rumble officially opens the road to WrestleMania each year. The winner of the Royal Rumble match goes on to face the Champion of their choice in the main event of the WrestleMania pay-per-view.
This Royal Rumble pay-per-view will also see the debut of the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match, with female stars from SmackDown Live, Raw and possibly NXT coming together to compete for a spot on the WrestleMania card.
The heart of the matter
The current favourite wrestler to win the Royal Rumble is Roman Reigns, with odds of 4/6 offered by Paddy Power. Not only is he Brock Lesnar's rumoured WrestleMania 34 opponent, he also won the Royal Rumble in 2015.
The other stars who are favoured to win are as follows:
John Cena (2/1)
Brock Lesnar (4/1)
Seth Rollins (4/1)
Finn Balor (8/1)
Samoa Joe (10/1)
Braun Strowman (10/1)
While these are the most favoured WWE stars to win the Rumble, Paddy Power also has a list of stars least likely to win the Rumble, comprising the likes of Curt Hawkins, Heath Slater and Bo Dallas.
What's next?
The Royal Rumble is set to take place on the 28th of January, 2018, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Author's take
Roman Reigns being the most likely star to win the Men's Royal Rumble does not come as a shock given the year he has had, and the rumours surrounding plans for the Universal Championship.
John Cena, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe are always favourites in any match that they are part of.
Brock Lesnar, the current Universal Champion, is unlikely to be a part of the Men's Royal Rumble match, as he will be facing Strowman and Kane in a Triple Threat match at the pay-per-view.
