From the WWE rumour mill: WWE may have nixed plans for the Four Horsewomen WWE vs UFC feud
What's the story?
In the most recent issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has indicated that the plan for the WWE versus UFC in Four Horsewomen feud has possibly been nixed. The Four UFC Horsewomen may all have gone their separate ways in their careers. Hence, making such a match does not appear to be plausible anymore.
In case you didn't know...
Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir refer to themselves as the Four Horsewomen of the UFC. Earlier in the year, Shayna Baszler took part in the Mae Young Classic tournament wherein she was cheered on by her UFC compatriots.
They were mocked by WWE's own Four Horsewomen due to their appearance. WWE set up a face-off between the two groups backstage at the Final of the Mae Young Classic when Baszler made it to the final. The three UFC women faced off against Lynch, Charlotte and Bayley in an awkward encounter which hinted at the possibility of more to come.
Stephanie McMahon announced the Women's Royal Rumble on this Monday's Raw. This had led to speculation about Rousey's debut to take place at the Royal Rumble.
The heart of the matter
The Four Horsewomen of UFC were rumoured to be debuting around Wrestlemania, where they would take on the Four Horsewomen of WWE. The latest updates show that this is unlikely to happen at the moment.
Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir, both of whom were training to get into professional wrestling, have reportedly stopped training. According to Meltzer, Shayna Baszler is currently set to have a major debut on NXT under the guise of a normal spot on the roster.

If the original plans for the WWE vs UFC Four Horsewomen feud were still in play, Baszler might have debuted on the main roster instead and could have paired with Rousey. Finally, the announcement of the Women's Royal Rumble has led to speculation that Ronda Rousey is likely to debut and win the Rumble before she goes on to face Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania in singles competition.
What's next?
The first ever Women's Royal Rumble is set to take place on the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on the 28th of January in 2018.
Author's take
A feud between the UFC and WWE Four Horsewomen may have sounded amazing but the reality has turned out quite differently. Professional Wrestling and MMA are two different sports forms and shifting between the two is not quite as easy as thought. While Baszler and Rousey have had a lot of training, the other two might not have been able to carry their own weight in the match when facing the experience of WWE's Four Horsewomen.
